GRAND CANYON WALKWAY! YIKES!
The Grand Canyon Skywalk is scheduled to open in early 2006 on the Hualapai Indian Reservation in the Grand Canyon. It will jut 70 feet into the canyon some 4000 ft above the Colorado River. The Skywalk will accomodate 120 people (that is 119 crazy people plus you for 120). Built with a million lbs. of steel beams and dampeners to minimize the structure’s vibration (oh thank god for that!). Among other things it is designed to withstand winds of 120 mph. Why in the hell would anybody be standing there in winds of 120 mph? But my favorite is that it has 4 inch thick glass bottoms and sides. Can you visualize this - who do they have to pick up and drag visitors back into the visitor center after they have collapsed from sheer fright? I think I am going to pass on this one but take a look! YIKES!

As a child I visited the grand cnyon several times, and have taken my children there also. It has been 5 years since my last visit, and I want to come again after the walkway opens. I promise you this - my girls are daredevils and will definitely take the walk. But, my husband & I are terrified of heights and we will be watching and praying for everyone from a distance! Look’s really neat! But you couldn’t pay me to do it.
