ONE NOISY BIRD!
Check this character out! I was working at the LA Zoo a couple of weeks ago, manning a table of biofacts and demonstrations about wolves. My area was right next to this guy’s exhibit. He is a Red-Legged Seriama originating in South America. These birds are usually seen in pairs and in fact his mate occupies the exhibit with him. Sunbathing is one of their favorite activities and they can be seen lying down with wings outspread and appear to be dead. But never fear they are just “catching some rays”! That particular day he took to screaming everytime I opened my mouth to spout words of wisdom to the school children touring the Zoo. Maybe he didn’t think they were such great pearls! But he and his mate are amazing self conifdent birds - as the children left my table display they crowded around his exhibit and he seemed to love it, screaming even louder. Fascinating bird!
