I. Hyman Weiland, M.D., Ph.D 1921 - 2005

I believe this will be the most difficult post I will ever compose for my blog but write it I must.

My husband of 35 years passed away on December 8. He was 84 and had been residing in a nursing home for almost 18 months. He was terribly frail and very confused most of that time so I like to believe he is in a much kinder place, free of pain and pursuing whatever he wishes now. He was the smartest man I ever met, sometimes very difficult, sometimes raucously funny, sometimes exasperatingly contrary but always on my side. I learned a great deal from him and I miss him terribly.

Unfortunately I had been told of a treatable return of my cancer of 2002 and was actually in ICU recovering from exploratory surgery when he died. My children, stepchildren and grandchildren, as well as Hospice personnel, were with him however and I shall be eternally grateful for that. My family has been manificent in helping me with recovery and helping with the Memorial Service we have planned.

Not a happy post but passages occur. Hold your family as close as possible and I wish all of you the best of holiday seasons.
