PRESIDENT PARDONS FRYER AND FLYER ON EVE OF THANKSGIVING!
As is done every year, the President of the United States pardons a turkey (and the runner-up) on the eve of Thanksgiving at a White House ceremony in the Rose Garden. This tradition dates back fifty years to Harry Truman and has occurred every year since. How exactly do you get to be the “runner-up”? Here is Flyer (the runnerup was Fryer) for you to see. How do they pick these names? The best presidential comment occurred in 1997 when President Clinton quipped, “We can all be grateful that there will be one less turkey in Washington.” That would be nice except there are so many of them now! Oh well, please enjoy a safe and happy Thanksgiving Day wherever you are!
